Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso seek re-entry to AU

Prior to an African Union summit, the foreign ministers of Mali, Guinea, and Burkina Faso are pleading for their countries to be reinstated in the organization in Addis Abeba, the capital of Ethiopia.

Following military takeovers, all three nations were expelled from the African Union and the regional organization Ecowas.

The suspensions, according to Mali's foreign ministry, are impeding the three Sahel countries' efforts to return to civilian governance.

The ministers, who will not be able to attend the summit, claim to have met the foreign ministers of both Ethiopia, which is hosting it, and the Comoros Islands, which are currently in charge of the AU.
