Tanzanian official restricts scantily clad mannequins

A Tanzanian region has outlawed the use of scantily dressed mannequins outside of businesses.

Rashid Msaraka, the district chief of Unguja town in the country's Zanzibar islands, claimed that the decision was intended to safeguard the nation's ideals.

According to Mr. Msaraka, similar mannequins could still be on display in stores, according to an interview he gave to a well-known blogger.

He said that the naked mannequins that lined the exterior of the building were visible to children and young people and might divert their attention.

"People who are worried about the psychological repercussions have complained to us. I'm confident that other districts will do the same "said he.
