The Deputy Youth Organsier of the ruling New Patriotic Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Offinso North Constituency of the Ashanti Region,  Nana Kwame Yaboah Asiamah, has stated that the Ghanaians must allow parliament to conduct an in-depth investigation into a leaked tape seeking to remove the Inspector General Of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare before the 2024 general election for NPP to be able to rig the elections.
 
He stressed that it is important for Ghanaians to allow parliament to conduct an in-depth investigation into matter to ascertain the truth.
Speaking in a discussion segment on CAN Radio breakfast Show dubbed CAN Agenda chaired monitored by Soireenews.com, Nana Kwame Yaboah Asiamah  indicated that this is an alleged tape that has no authentication
 
"...and so the only way to ascertain the truth of the tape and those who matter in it is to allow a parliamentary probe into the case because there was due diligence before the appointment of someone to occupy such high rank of IGP," he stressed.
 
He added that IGP has performed pleasingly after his appointment and keeps performing with President Akuffo Addo expressing confidence in his works on several occasions and Ghanaians also believes in the conduct of the IGP in instilling discipline in the police service and making it look attractive to the masses. 
On his part, the NDC communication team member for Offinso North district in the Ashanti region, Mr Amin Mahama commended the IGP for his immense contribution towards the improvement of   security services in the country revealing that  the NDC and John Mahama is ready to work with him due his selfless leadership and dedication towards work. 
He therefore pleaded with the leadership of the country to and the entire citizenry to allow the IGP to continue his effective policing to improve the security of the people.
He stated that he has not done anything contrary to the rules and ethical standard of policing to be subjected to dismissal or removal from office as the leaked tape suggests. 
There has been a leaked tape seeking the removal of the Inspector General Of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare before the 2024 general election for NPP to be able to rig the elections.
The Speaker of Parliament,  Right Honourable Alban Bagbin has directed the establishment of a seven-member special committee to investigate the leaked tape containing the removal of the IGP. 
The decision to form the committee comes in response to a demand by the minority caucus of Parliament, who called for a thorough probe to determine the authenticity and credibility of the leaked tape.
