A Member of Kwahu Concern Youth Association, Mr Owusu Ansah has called on the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to fulfil his promised made to the people of Kwahu during his 2016 campaign at Nkwakwa grounds.

He further reminded the President to construct the Nkawkaw stadium; a promised he made during his 2016 campaign tour in the Kwahu communities adding that they expect him to fulfil his promise to the people of Kwahu.

"Almost every region in Ghana is benefitting from the astroturf pitches but the story is not same here at Kwahu," Mr Owusu Ansah said.

"In the history of Ghana Football, Kwahu United has contributed immensely to the progress of the Football Association, not forgetting the senior national team head coach, CK Akonor who was raised by Kwahu United.

"We were expecting to benefit from the astroturf but it was unfortunate we have none to boast of."

In their earlier briefing of press on September 2020, the group indicated that only Colonel Simple Asante, a Sports Minister under General  Kutu Acheampong's government in late 1972 attempted to build the Nkawkaw sports stadium for the people of Kwahu, and the project has been abandoned till date.

The group, who are all indigenes of Kwahu communities made up of teachers, students, drivers, footballers, athletes, including Nana Adwoa Agyekumwaa, Kwahu Afram Plains Akroso Adontenghemaa among others, hired a bulldozer to begin grading and preparatory works at the Nkawkaw sports stadium to allow for the immediate commencement of construction of the stadium last year August.

They revealed that the stadium construction was an agreement between them and the then Eastern Regional Minister, Honorable Kwakye Darfour, but yielded no results till date which influenced their current briefing.
