A 22-year-old man Kojo Ampong is in critical condition after he was set ablaze at Enyan Denkyira in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.

The incident happened Saturday evening around 9:30 PM at weed ghetto after the suspect Mfantse sent his gangs to drag him to the ghetto.

According to the report gathered by soireenews indicated that the suspect tied the victim on a plantains tree with over 5 ropes and set him ablaze.

The report says the victim pleads to the suspect that he never took his phone as it was levied against him but the suspect didn't mind him and went ahead to set him ablaze.

Speaking in an interview with soireenews, the victim Kojo Ampong said, he was at his house when three people came to him that he was wanted by one of his friends called Mfantse.

He said he doesn't know why he is calling him, only for him to be told that he has stolen a mobile phone which according to him was not aware of it and has not done anything like that.

According to him, he struck him with a cane over 150 lashes before he was assaulted and set ablaze.

In addition, some of the eyewitnesses who saw the assault said, this wasn't the first time the suspect has engaged in such acts.

They said, the suspect once killed his pregnant wife and was arrested and jailed and he has many criminal charges against him in the community 

They said the suspect was together with other notorious weed gangs about six in number. they later demanded 1000  before the victim was released.


Meanwhile, the mother of the victim, who happens to be Emmah collapsed just after he was released by the weed boys and he was rushed to the Ajumako Government hospital for treatment.

The mother then appealed to the Inspector General of Police to as much as possible take immediate action and arrest the suspect who is on the run.

The mother also appeals for Justice for her son.

She said, there is no money for her to take the victim to the hospital anymore so he is appealing to the general public to do her a favor and support her.

The Assemblyman for  Denkyira North Honorable. Henry  Okyire also called for the police to take immediate action and arrest the suspect.

He said though the case has been reported to the Ajumako Police there being no arrest since.

He said this is not the first time the suspect has set someone ablaze.

He called on the police to speed up the investigation.

Meanwhile, the suspect is on the run.
