Farmer sentenced to 20 Years Imprisonment for Defilement 

The Asamankese Circuit court presided over by His Honour Abubakari Abass Adams has sentenced a 45-year-old farmer in Abordom, near Kade, Nenevi Freeman to 20 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling two siblings less than 16 years.

Nenevi Freeman, popularly known as Efo pleaded guilty when he was charged for the defilement of two siblings under 16 years of age contrary to section 101(2) of the criminal offenses Act 1960(Act 29).

Presenting the statement of the case to the court, the Prosecutor, inspector Isaac Owusu Achiaw told the court that the victims, 12 and 13 years old respectively live in Abodom with their mother and grandfather, Harry Adzeglo who is the complainant, while the accused is also a farmer in the same town and was living in the same House of the victims, but later vacated to another place in the same Town.

The prosecutor narrated, that on February 9, 2021, the complainant had information that the accused person has been having sex with the victims so he invited the victim for interrogation and they confessed that Nenevi Freeman started this immoral act in the year 2020.

The complainant later led the victims to the police for an official report at Abodom and upon interrogation, the two victims said the accused forcibly had sex with them on separate occasions when they were selling pastries where the accused bought some and invited them to his room for money. They said they accused had five and ten times sex since 2020 with them respectively.

A report from Kade Government Hospital confirmed to the Police that the victims were defiled and the accused was arrested and arraigned before the court for prosecution.
