Diogo Jota has been nominated for the Champions League player of the week accolade.

The Reds forward is up against Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Alassane Plea who likewise completed a hat trick against Donetsk, Dortmund’s Erling Haaland who was on a brace against Club Brugge and two-goal hero for Sevilla, Youssef En-Nesyri.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker was part of the Liverpool team that won heavily in Italy on Tuesday night against Atalanta.

Jota scored his first hat trick for the Reds and in the European competition to take home the match ball.  He has justified his £45m since he joined the Reds in the summer by six in just 10 days for the Premier League side.

Liverpool top Group D with nine points from three wins. The Reds have amassed 16 points from six out of seven matches in the English League and sit top.

He has altogether made it seven goals in just five starts for the Reds.
