Kevin De Bruyne says he will consider his decision whether he will stay at Etihad if Manchester City’s two-year European ban stands.

According to the Belgian whose contract runs out on June 2023, although it’s tough watching colleagues enjoy the European competition yet he is certain the club’s appeal can help overturn the two-year decision.

An Adjudicatory Chamber of the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) found the Premier League champions guilty of serious breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations.

The club were also found guilty of "failing to cooperate in the investigation of this case by the CFCB".

The City midfielder has been phenomenal since arriving from Italy in a club-record fee of £55 million (€75 million).

"I have confidence in my club: if they are saying it's true, then I believe them. We'll wait and see what happens. Once there's a final decision I will look at it.

Mancity officially filed an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the two-year ban from European competitions and although he is "happy" at the club, the Belgium midfielder says a long exclusion from Europe's elite competition could have an effect on his career path.

"The club has told us that they will appeal the decision, and they are 100 per cent convinced that they are in the right," De Bruyne told Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws.

"Two years [without Champions League football] would be long. One year is something I might be able to cope with."
