Jurgen Klopp has slammed comments comparing Diogo Jota’s brilliance in front of goal to Firmino’s consistency in the Liverpool squad after their Champions League win on Tuesday night.

Klopp instead commended his new boy and revealed that he faces no selection worries as the press are made to believe.

Diogo Jota on Tuesday night completed a hat trick as the Reds thrashed Atalanta by 5-0, with Sadio Mane and Salah also on the scoresheet.

The Reds also kept a clean sheet to perfect their form in the Champions League as they lead by 9 points with eight goals in Group D followed by Ajax with four.

The three goals take the Portuguese total notch to six in five games surpassing Firmino’s five for Liverpool.

“Good performances never give me a headache,” he said.

“For tonight the decision it was clear it made sense to use the good shape Diogo is in and because of the way Atalanta plays and defends the skillset of Diogo helps.

“But the world is sometimes a bad place that in a moment when someone is shining we speak immediately about another player – who it feels like played for us 500 games in a row and we wouldn't be in the Champions League if Bobby Firmino is not with us – and I have to explain why he is not in the team. He will be in the team.

“It is important we have more than 11 and tonight Diogo played a super game and that says nothing about Bobby and nothing to do with causing me headaches.

“I am more than happy the boys played like they played tonight.”

Liverpool will visit the Etihad on Sunday to take on Manchester City who were also victorious on Tuesday night by 3-0 against Olympiacos at home.
