Instead of turning to such unconventional measures, we should use the Party's established grievance and dispute procedures to seek amicable remedies to our problems.

The Party, which had been monitoring the polling station elections across the country, had noted pockets of unrest, including verbal attacks and physical clashes in some seats, with profound concern and revulsion.

They expect all of their members to use the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) laid down grievance and dispute procedures to seek amicable resolutions to their grievances rather than resorting to such unorthodox means, which only embarrasses the party, according to a press briefing organized by the General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu.

According to the general secretary, the Party included extensive and comprehensive redress methods for disgruntled party members in its rules and regulations for the conduct of polling station elections.

He went on to say that the Party once again condemns any unfortunate acts and misconducts that have attempted to bring the Party's name into shame.

However, the Party stipulated in its rules and regulations that no interested party member should be denied access to the purchase of Nomination Forms by the Polling Station elections committee, and that if such access is denied in violation of this express rule, the aggrieved member may purchase Nomination Forms at the Party's Regional or National Secretariat through a petition.

The Party conducted proper preparations for the election and made Nomination Forms available, with at least 25 Nomination Forms mailed to each polling station across the country.

He also mentioned that the Party has launched internal investigations into the disturbances and that anyone found to be responsible will be reprimanded by the Party's rules.

"In the specific situation of the disturbances witnessed at Fomena, including the painting of the Party Office in NDC colors, the Party takes this gross misbehavior very seriously, which is not only deplorable but also an affront to the Party's very dignity," he stated.

"As a result, the Party is taking immediate actions to dismiss all of the individuals responsible for this ungodly act from the Party," he continued.

"It is important to note that the Party has not yet determined on the mechanisms for holding polling station primary in Fomena and the other nine constituencies where polling station primaries have been suspended for various reasons," he said.

Meanwhile, the Party has yet to decide on the date for opening nominations, vetting, publishing vetting results and holding polling station elections in Fomena.

The Party did not and could not send Nomination Forms to Fomena for the conduct of the elections, let alone hand over all such Forms to the Independent Member of Parliament, as claimed, which then erroneously formed the basis for the disturbances witnessed at the Constituency, including the painting of the Party office in NDC colors.

"As I have stated, all individuals responsible for this heinous act will face serious consequences," he stated.

"Where it has been established that members of the elections committee have not acted by the rules and regulations, the Party is holding them accountable, and in some cases, we have directed a complete overhaul of the committee before the Electoral Area Coordinators Elections," he stated.

It is interesting to note that, while pockets of unrest and nasty incidents were observed in some constituencies, which the Party categorically rejects, the process was mostly successful across the country.

Indeed, the party has witnessed these concerning developments in 15 of the 263 constituencies where polling station primaries have been placed.

Again, the Party is now undertaking investigations in these areas, and if the circumstances warrant, they may order a re-run of the polling station elections in the concerned constituencies, in which case they may dispatch National personnel to oversee the process.

The Party has also instructed the various chairpersons of all Polling Stations and Electoral Area Elections Committees to submit a comprehensive report detailing everything that occurred during the recently concluded polling station elections.

This is a prerequisite that must be met before the Committee is permitted to hold the elections for Electoral Area Coordinators.
