In Klo-Agogo, two people were sentenced to 30 years in prison for robbery and causing injury.

Two armed robbers were sentenced to 30 years in prison each by a Circuit Court in Koforidua, in the Eastern region, for robbery and causing violence.

They'll have to work hard for the rest of their sentences.

George Edzordzi alias Black Jesus, 38, and Yakubu Nuhu Baturi, 47, were accused of assaulting and robbing Kofi Nartey, a resident of Klo-Agogo, of GHC4,500.00.

They also took the phones of a teacher and an Assemblymember from the Owura high electoral region.

The facts of the case as given in court indicated that on January 29, 2019, two robbers with cutlasses and weapons broke into Kofi Nartey's home.

Mr. Nartey's hands were savagely cut by the convicts during the attack.

After storming into the house, the suspects demanded money and cell phones while brandishing a gun at him.

With their booty in hand, they escaped.

However, they were apprehended in their hideout by the police after receiving a tip.

During interrogation, they confessed to the crime, revealing George Edzordzi Dabla as the ringleader.

The second offender, Yakubu Nuhu Baturi, indicated in his caution statement that he just participated in the preparation of the crime and did not take part in the actual robbery.

When they were arraigned, they both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

They were found guilty by a court presided over by Justice Mercy Addie Kotei after their trial.
