Four suspected Chinese nationals have been arrested at Nsawam, in the Eastern Region of Ghana, by the National Security, for allegedly stealing large quantities of electricity cables.

The suspected Chinese Criminals are Liu Lianwei, age 38, Su Meng, also age 55, Tuan Xiuwei, 41, and Zhang Chenming, age 55.

The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of Ghana Police Service, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, opined, that the incident occurred on Thursday, July 8, 2021, the National Security Operatives from the Eastern region arrested the Chinese nationals suspected Criminals.

"They were arrested at CK Aluminum Company Limited at Nsawam Adoagyiri municipality, upon intelligence and a tip-off, that the Chinese nationals were allegedly smuggling the 30 bundles of electricity cables and some quantities of unbundled cables with the seal of Ministry of Energy to an unknown destination".

"He added, that the truck was impounded, whilst suspects arrested and brought to the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters, Koforidua, for interrogation and question".

The alleged stolen items were offloaded at the forecourt of the Police Headquarters, to be supervised by the National Security and Police on Thursday evening before 20:00 hours GMT.

The four Chinese suspects were detained by the police to assist the ongoing investigation.

DSP Tetteh, promised, that the police will not hesitate to brief the media after the ongoing investigations.
