I Haven't Awarded Contracts To NDC Faithfuls - Agona East DCE Clears Air
District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona East District Assembly of the Central Region, Mrs Janet Odei Paintsil
District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona East District Assembly of the Central Region, Mrs Janet Odei Paintsil, has denied allegations made by some aggrieved members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for awarding what they termed as ‘juicy contracts’ to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) faithful(s) in the at the expense of members of the governing party.

In a massive demonstration held on Tuesday August 9, 2022, some pro-NPP calling itself as the polling station executives of the Agona with the tacit support of the youths of governing party noted that the current Agona East DCE is depriving her people of Assembly contracts, offering them rather to members of the opposition NDC.

The NPP demonstrators emphasized the need for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove the current DCE from her current position, saying that she has failed to perform to the expectation of the people she claims to be serving.
The group accused the DCE of having no respect for the NPP Agona East Constituency executives and neglection of NPP members within the district and both her conduct and speech fueled factionalism by selectively working with few preferred NPP executives.
The group accused Mrs. Paintsil of sidelining them and disregarding party structures in the discharge of her mandatory duties, saying that that neglect, disrespect and divisiveness practice of the current DCE contravening the NPP constitution, hence must be sacked by the President.
But in a quick rebuttal, Mrs. Paintsil stated that all the allegations leveled against her including  accusation of her awarding Coastal Development Authority (CODA) contracts to the members of the NDC were completely false, unfounded and baseless.

The DCE stressed that these allegations were the calculated attempts engineered by some top elements of the NPP in Agona East to tarnish her hard won reputation and called on general public, particularly the residents of Agona East District to disregard the allegations leveled against her.

"These top elements of the NPP for the best of my knowledge had planned and succeeded in mobilizing the Agona East Constituency polling station and some electoral area executives to stage demonstration just to create the impression that l have neglected members of the governing NPP," the DCE noted.

The female DCE indicated various human centered measures put in place by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) officer in Agona East District to impress upon the chairperson of the NPP in Agona East area, Mrs Hannah Asamoah to prevent the NPP youths including the constituency polling station and electoral area Chairmen and some executives to stage such demonstration against her, but these advises have not yielded any positive result.

When journalists asked whether the DCE has called the chairperson of the Agona East Constituency of the NPP when she got wind of the information of the demonstrators, she responded now.

"I never called the woman before the demonstration was staged against me. But the day before the demonstration it was rather BNI officer of the area who called to inform me that he called the woman to ask her about the protest but the woman responded that she knows nothing about any intended move by the group to demonstrate against me (the DCE)," Mrs Paintsil disclosed .
"The BNI officer told me that during the telephone conversation he has with the woman he asked the woman if it is true that some members of the NPP were planning to demonstrate against the DCE and that the BNI officer told me that he asked the NPP chairperson that she should make sure she advised her people not to demonstrate," she explained.
According to the DCE, since she assumped office, she has been working with everybody particularly, the Agona East Constituency executives of the NPP, various Assembly members perfectly with the primary focus to break the eight years jinx of the NPP."
"I don't have problem with any of the NPP constituency officers in Agona East and they had invited me to their meeting and l have honoured and attended.
She stressed that "l operate an open door policy and that "my people come to me and my human relations with them are very cordial and friendly.
She was quick to state that "l know for sure that there are people behind the group to demonstrate against her, saying that they gathered few polling and electoral area Chairmen to exhibit such ostensibly to soil her reputation but they completely failed.
He could not understand why some NPP people would organised demonstration to attack her integrity noting "One of the accusations levelled against me was that l donated bags of cements to a certain village which is full of the supporters and members of the NDC."
"I am the District Chief Executive of Agona East District Assembly, so the people in that village brought their proposal or appeal that they need cements for them to build the community center, so as the DCE l donated 50 bags of cements to this village.
"But in their allegations, they were saying that that village is an NDC party dominated village for which l don't know. Because l suppose to take care of the people in every towns and villages under the Agona East District Assembly that is why l donated these 50 bags of cements to the people in that village for their project," she explained.
She added that "she decided to donate the cements to the town for them to know how good the NPP government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo/Dr Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia are doing for the people in the country."
She indicated that all the projects she has been doing in the Agona East District, she always invited the Agona East Constituency executives of the NPP to attend the functions.
"I invited them twice, first was a handing over of the three and six classroom blocks to the Ghana Education Director and headmasters of the Duaboni and Duakwa Roman Catholic School but the they didn't come. At the time that l planned to perform sod-cutting of National Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound at Agona Swedru but non of them turned up at the programme," she revealed.
"In their second meeting, they invited me, but at that time  l was busy and l told them that they should have the meeting and gave me feedback, but the only things l heard was demonstration," the DCE recounted.
To this end, Mrs Paintsil stressed the need of the disgruntled members of the NPP to calm down saying that every things are in place to improve their living conditions.

"In fact l am working seriously to ensure that we all be okayed and things would be in a good shape very soon. With an appropriate time all the NPP people who are lobbying for the contracts l can tell them that everything would be fine with them very soon," the DCE further assured.

Meanwhile, the polling station executives of the Agona East Constituency of the NPP have described people who staged against the DCE as imposters, saying that they are not not polling station executives in the area.

In a strong worded press statement signed by the fitfy-nine (59) polling station executives in the Agona East Constituency, they maintained that "We, the polling station executives of Agona East constituency are by this release stating categorically that, we have not been informed or notified of such needless picketing at the NPP office at Agona Duakwa to present a petition for the removal of the DCE in the unfortunate event that happened early hours of Tuesday August 9, 2022 morning."
The statement noted that the party leadership in the constituency was not notified, and the traditional authority of Agona Duakwa was also disregarded.
"We vehemently want to indicate to the party leadership at the regional, and national level that, the people who engaged in what we refer to as an illegal and calculated attempt by hooligans, mischievous miscreants, and unpatriotic citizens who have no shred of empathy, unity, and desire for the party and country to maintain peace to protect the ongoing developmental agenda of the president, executed effectively in the district by the current DCE; is only a master plan of some persons in authority in Agona East to wrestle the DCE office other than wrestling the MP seat from the NDC," the statement noted.
These hiding faces, the statement believes orchestrated everything and pushed it to the valandar boys to execute to taint the image of the party and the District Chief Executive.
The statement asserted that "The DCE as far as we, the polling station executives are concerned is doing very well, just last week, she was going around the constituency distributing fertilizers, farm implements and providing several support to farmers in the district."
Within the same period, the statement pointed out that the DCE has initiated and cut sod for the construction of a new Junior High School (JHS)  block at Agona Tawora and a health centre at Agona Duotu.
The statement noted that, the DCE ever since her assumption of office has embarked on several developmental projects in the area of sanitation, education, healthcare, agriculture etc and we are all living witnesses to these.
"Guess what! The DCE is less than one year in office. If not for greed, personal interest, and a figment of an overheated imagination of some hooligans and hiding faces, who in his or her rightful patriotic senses will call for the removal of a hardworking DCE who is barely one year in office," the statement said.
The statement called on the general public, party leaders, and true patriots to ignore these shameful, needless, falsehood, attention- seeking demonstrators and focus on the agenda of the president to develop Agona East and Ghana, since such posturing can only be intended to derail the effect of the NPP’s fortunes in agona east.
"We, the under-listed executives and many others want to reiterate, that the polling station executives of Agona East are rather thinking of how to break the eight and not how to break our own," the statement concluded.
