The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Old Tafo municipality, Mr. Fred Obeng Owusu, has revealed that a security challenge that became a major issue within the municipality some time ago is almost becoming a thing of the past due to the strong measures put in place.

 According to him, the Assembly is constructing a Police Station and a Court to help ensure efficient security in the area.

He said, if measures were not put in place to check meagre crimes in the Municipality, it could be inimical to the growth of the business, which would eventually affect the revenue mobilization of the assembly.

He explained that security issue was one of the major challenges the area was facing but now the Assembly together with the able security agencies in the area have put in place every effort to address the situation.

He disclosed this in an interview with SN24 during the assembly's maiden meeting for the year 2021 on Wednesday. The meeting which sought to address developmental and security issues witness a host of departmental heads and assembly members.

Mr. Owusu hinted that the annual budget of the Tafo Municipality seeks to meet the plans of the Assembly and the aspirations of the people.

He also explained that the Assembly has built a twenty-one-unit classroom block and a get-fund block to help improve the academic background of the people.

He said schools with collapsed buildings will be renovated with ease to ensure the safety of the children.

‘’Schools, Markets, Churches were fumigated in the Municipality to ensure the safety of the people and PPE’s were distributed to the various institutions to help fight the COVID 19 pandemic’’ he added.

He said, there are thirteen schools in the Municipality and about 7,464 children are benefiting from the school feeding program in the Municipality.

During the meeting, a concern was raised about the construction of roads in some part of Tafo that is Nhyiaeso, Okess junction and other roads which needs to be constructed.

Mr. Owusu then stressed that those roads had already been assigned for construction to make the conveying of passengers easier and faster.

He said the Assembly has also helped people with disabilities and the aged by showing them the love and care they need to improve their stay in the municipal.

He said the Tafo Municipality is doing everything to make the standard of living for the people a meaningful one.

He then urged the Assembly members to stay united to help achieve the common goal, which is development.
