Diogo Jota has admitted that football without fans is strange especially with the fan base of his new club not able to witness games since his £45m move from Wolves during the transfer window.

The Portuguese will have the chance to play in front of the Kop as 2,000 fans are expected to be in attendance at Anfield on Sunday late kickoff against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 23-year-old has scored five goals in eight appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Premier League behind closed doors and per the UK government’s measures put in place to curtail the spread of the coronavirus after the national lockdown was lifted on Wednesday, Jota says a missing element of the game is about to be found, that is the Anfield Effect.

"Football without fans is strange,” Jota told Sky Sports.

“Obviously when you play for a club like Liverpool that has one of the best atmospheres in the world, it just feels like something is missing.

"We have a lot of these conversations with the staff and even with the players [on] the things I am missing.

"Feeling the Anfield effect is the thing I'm looking forward [to] most."
