Ghanaian Pastor Wanted After Setting A Woman On Fire

The Asankragua Division of the Ghana Police Service in the Western Region is on the trail of Pastor Kenneth Mensah, the founder of Mega Word Chapel International in Enchi, who is accused to have attempting to set fire on a woman in Kwasibokro but bolted with her GH¢40,000.

Re-counting the incident to Kakyire Obuobi of Ahobraseye FM in Asankragwa, Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Nana Kumi explained the fugitive preacher was introduced to the victim by her sister’s brother after she had returned to Ghana from Dubai to celebrate the holidays with the family.

“The victim is a nurse in Dubai and has been in the country for the past two years. She returns to Ghana on October 8, 2021, to spend holidays with the family. She was then introduced to Pastor Kenneth Mensah, Head pastor of the Mega Word International Chapel by her sister’s brother. The victim told the pastor about her intention to travel again. In the course of their several discussions, the pastor told her that there are evil spirits in her house. So, her next travel can only be successful after a spiritual cleansing.”

Chief Superintendent Nana Kumi proceeded by saying that Pastor Kenneth Mensah then instructed her to provide the money – GH40,000 – she intended to use to process her travel for cleaning.

“The pastor arrived on January 5, 2022, and lodged at the Royal Hotel. At about 2:00 am on January 6, 2022, the pastor went to the room of the victim to perform the said cleansing. He collected the money, put it in an envelope, wrapped it with cello tape, and asked her to place it under her bed and sleep on it. Before that and according to the victim, the pastor asked her to bring salt and sugar. He instructed the victim to look toward the window and recite certain words 24 times while he mixes the salt and sugar for her to drink.”

“Afterwards, he handed the victim the combination to drink,” the Asankragwa Divisional Police Commander stated. She immediately felt dizzy and fell asleep after taking it. According to the victim, she began experiencing an unpleasant burning feeling while sleeping and awoke to find her room covered in smoke and on fire. She extended her hand to get the envelope containing the money. To her astonishment, the envelope this time included burning papers. She yelled for assistance, and her carpenter brother busted through her door and saved her. Immediately upon her exit, she collapsed and was brought to the hospital.”

He stated that his division has designated Pastor Kenneth Mensah as a wanted individual.

Joana Asare, the victim’s tearful daughter, claimed that the GH40,000 was the profits of the sale of a family store.

“When she returned from Dubai, she expressed her wish to visit a relative in the United Kingdom with her family. The family agreed and agreed to sell a family business to assist her. We received GH40,000 as a result of the sale. What has occurred is tragic. Fortunately, the fire did not burn her, save for the fact that she initially coughed hard and her spit was black. However, she is today hale and healthy.”
