Switch OFF streetlights at day time - MCE charges Assemblymembers  

The Asunafo North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in Ahafo Region, Mr. Yaw Osei Boahen has charged Assembly Members and Unit Committee in their various locality to ensure that all streetlights are switched OFF during day time to reduce cost and wastage.

"It's always worrying to seeing streetlights ON at day time," Mr. Yaw Osei Boahen expressed worry in an interview with SN24 News.

He said the situation is problematic in most parts of the region and must be addressed.

The MCE said the Assembly has begun major works on fixing all non-functional streetlights in Goaso, the  Ahafo Regional capital, and Mim which have gone out for several months now.

“If the streets do not have proper illumination, driving at night becomes a challenge for motorists,” he lamented.

He explained further that the dark streets have become a great concern to every motorist.

The Residents in an interview also declared that “when you are not familiar with the road it is easy to get stuck in a pothole or knockdown by car because there are no streetlights.”

They expressed in annoyance that, “we pay money for these lights to be fixed and maintained, we also know nothing will be done but we keep paying because it is an obligation.”
