Fresh air strikes kill civilians in Ethiopia's Tigray

At least six people were killed in new airstrikes on Tuesday against Ethiopia's Tigray region, an aid worker told the BBC. Rebel forces blamed neighboring Eritrea for the attack.

The Eritrean government, whose troops had previously engaged in combat in the area with Ethiopian troops, has not responded to the charge.

The relief worker reported that Adi-Daero town, which is close to the Eritrean border, was the focus of Tuesday's attack.

He continued by saying that he witnessed ambulances transporting attack victims to hospitals.

The Tigrayan authorities claim that the airstrikes on Tuesday were made "repeatedly" and that residential buildings were destroyed.

The Tigray government's controlled regional media broadcast images of the destruction brought on by the supposed attack.

The incidents cannot be verified by the BBC. Journalists have been barred from the area and all communication channels have been cut off.

However, the BBC has examined satellite pictures that reveal a significant military buildup near Shiraro, a border town that the Tigray forces are said to have recently lost.
