In Namibia's Fish Canyon,'missing' tourists were discovered.

Tourists who were reported missing in Namibia's Fish River Canyon have been found, according to local officials.

Over the weekend, a search for the hikers was initiated despite doubt about their exact numbers.

A South African couple was among them, according to reports, who sent out repeated distress signals, sparking the rescue attempt.

However, a Namibian government tourism official told local newspaper The Namibian on Monday that the couple's and others' whereabouts had been discovered and that no one was missing.

Six guests left the park without "clocking out," according to a Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) officer quoted in the Informanté newsletter.

Before going to their different destinations, the official urged all tourists and hikers at the canyon to register.

The canyon is one of Africa's most magnificent natural wonders, located along the lower sections of the Fish River in southern Namibia.

It is Africa's longest canyon and the world's second-largest after Arizona's Grand Canyon.

Because of the scorching desert temperatures, the 85-kilometer (52-mile) hiking track on the canyon floor is only open from May to mid-September.
