In the northwest of the nation, a helicopter carrying four Tunisian troops on military duty crashed into the water, killing everyone on board.

 On Thursday, President Kais Saied expressed his sympathies to the families of the deceased, stating that "the accident cost the lives of four army men."

At a meeting with the nation's defense minister after the incident, he stated that "renewing military equipment" was necessary.

While acknowledging that such catastrophes in Tunisia "had led and continues to lead to such equipment deterioration," President Saied also stated that such incidents may occur in any nation.

The results of the investigations into the 2021 death of three soldiers in an army chopper crash in the southern Gabes region have not been made public.
