For robbery, three people were sentenced to 60 years in prison.

Last Friday, the Sogakope Court sentenced three young men from Akatsi to a total of 60 years in prison for conspiring and robbing an 'okada' driver of his motorcycle at gunpoint.

Godsway Sedofia, 19, Seraphim Torgbor, and Destiny Adzakpo, both 18, are the three.

Each of them will be sentenced to 20 years of hard labor in prison.

They entered a not guilty plea.
Sedofia hired the motorbike operator from the Akatsi Central Market to Atidzive on December 22, last year, according to Chief Inspector Seidu Kodua, who represented the republic in a court presided over by Mr. Isaac Addo.

Sedofia pulled out a revolver and ordered the cyclist to come to a halt when they reached a part of the road.

The rider complied, and Adzakpo, who had set up an ambush nearby, came to Sedofia's aid in capturing the rider of the Haojue motorcycle with the registration number M-21 VR 3225.
According to the prosecution, the two also took the rider's crash helmet.

The victim then told his acquaintances in the 'okada' industry about the ordeal he had at the hands of the robbers, according to the prosecution.

Soon after, the victim received information that Sedofia and Torgbor had been seen speeding through Glikpome.

Friends and family of the victim

The victim and his companions then went to Sofia's house, where the crushed helmet was discovered in his room.

They then arrested him and turned him over to the authorities.

Sedofia admitted to the crime in his caution statement and named Torgbor and Adzakpo as his accomplices, leading to their arrest on Christmas Eve, according to the court.

The court was also informed that the motorcycle was later found on the grounds of the Keta Municipal Hospital.

Another accomplice, Robert Sedofia, was alleged to be on the run, according to the prosecution.

The court said that, despite the defendants' pleas of not guilty, the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
