A community policing personnel at Teacher Mante in the Ayensuano District, Eastern Region of Ghana, has been knocked down by a speeding Bus from Kumasi.

The Community Police Personnel, was on a motorbike crossing Accra to Kumasi Highway when the Bus from Kumasi at a top speed knocked him down making him unconscious for hours.

He was rushed to Suhum government hospital for treatment and reports indicates that the community police personnel is responding to treatment.

Pedestrian knockdowns on the Accra-Kumasi highway has been rampant due to the lack of safe walking ways for residents on almost all the communities along the Kumasi-Accra highway.

On Thursday, May 27, 2021, the angry youth of Amanase, a farming and business community near Suhum, blocked the Accra to Kumasi Highway amidst the burning of many tyres in a spontaneous protest after a vehicle crushed an elderly man of 70 years to death in one of the evenings around 7:30 pm.

The widow was knocked down by a speedy vehicle while crossing the road and his body was shredded and littered on the road.

The blockage and the burning of tyres in many of the communities along the road have created gridlock for hours until sometimes it takes armed Police to stormed the scene to disperse protestors.
