Marcus Rashford found a way to sail Manchester United through to second on the Premier League table, two points behind Liverpool.

Edinson Cavani started for Manchester United for the second time in the Premier League this season as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made six changes from the side that drew 2-2 at Leicester.

Anthony Martial dropped to the bench, alongside Daniel James, Fred and Scott McTominay as Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Mason Greenwood started. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was back for Victor Lindelof, who was out of the squad, while Alex Telles came in for Luke Shaw.

Wolves made four changes of their own from the 1-1 draw against Spurs with Nelson Semedo, Marcal, Daniel Podence and Fabio Silva replaced by Ki-Jana Hoever, Max Kilman, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Vitinha.

The first clear chance fell for Bruno in the 35-minute when Greenwood found Fernandes ahead of his man. The winger volleyed it from six yards out but didn’t get much power behind it, as it went straight at Rui Patricio. Cavani flicked home the rebound, but he didn’t get power on it.

Wolves responded during first-half injury time through a break. Neto drove through on goal towards the right and got to the flank but Maguire recovered well to get a touch on the ball.

The second half of the game continued and as at the 60-minute, United had registered just a shot on target.

Cavani goal in the 71-minute was disallowed when he turned home Bailey’s header which fell for him - the linesman flagged him offside yet Manchester United kept knocking at the door for the winner with Wolves keeing their shape and composure to prevent the Red Devils from scoring.

Rashford found a through to deny Wolves a point in the 90+3 minute.

Fernandes' long ball over the top was collected by Rashford and he turned and drove into the penalty area and took aim at goal.

The shot deflected off one of Wolves' three covering defender and went in past the wrong-footed Rui Patricio.
