Liverpool has confirmed that Fabinho will be out till 2020

The Brazilian suffered an ankle ligament in the Reds UEFA Champions League game on Wednesday after colliding with an opponent.

The midfielder was subbed off for Gini Wijnaldum as the Liverpool played a 1-1 draw on the night.

 

 

According to an official statement released by Liverpool Fc surrounding Fabinho’s injury, “Liverpool can confirm Fabinho suffered ankle ligament damage during the Champions League encounter with Napoli in midweek,” it revealed.

“The midfielder needed to be substituted after 18 minutes of the 1-1 draw at Anfield on Wednesday night after falling awkwardly during a challenge.

“Further assessment on the injury has discovered Fabinho will be out of action until the New Year.

"The Brazilian will begin a rehabilitation programme with the Reds’ medical team at Melwood as he works his way back to full fitness.

This means he will miss the Mersyside Derby and would not travel to play in Liverpool's FIFA Club World Cup in Dubai.
