Educationists Raise Serious Concern About Inability of WAEC Releasing Candidates Marked Scripts Yearly.

A Ghanaian Educationist has called on the West Africa Examination Council (WEAC) to desist from their inability to release to the candidates marked exams scripts yearly after their examination.

Speaking to the media, Mr Osei Kofi Nyamekye who is also a parent explained that, candidates who sit for their final BECE examination both from private schools pay their exams fees and public schools do the same by the government out of the taxes paid by the Ghanaian citizens but after the exams, only final result slips are only released without the answers scripts.

Adding that what worries him is that, after the candidate finished writing the exams, only the examination results are declared without the candidates, teachers and parents who are stakeholders having an eye on the marked scripts which are always kept secret by WEAC.

He said marking the scripts is the work of WEAC and releasing it shouldn't be something difficult for them but the question is why they only release the final results while through the script the results are declared.

He, therefore, commended WEAC for their previous years' performances during examinations both at the basic and secondary certificate examination levels but suggested that in this 21st century, examination results declarations should not be half baked but it should be about time WEAC try as much they can to make all the marked scripts available to candidates before the examination results come out so that the result can be compared with the marked scripts.

He finally called on the Ministry of Education as a matter of urgency to do something about this issue since everything concerning education is under their control if WEAC will implement this idea, it will help Ghanaian students in their preparation for exams and since they will see the results of their hard work both in scripts and result slips.
