Arsenal’s inability to offer Aubameyang Champions League football is one reason he does not want to extend his days at the Emirates.

Talks with the former Dortmund forward has taken a different approach as his father’s relationship with the Gunners has become the norm to convince him of a new deal.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Gunners are prioritizing Aubameyang’s contract talks over any new potential signings this summer because of the coronavirus crises which has stricken the financial budget of football clubs.

Arsenal sits eight after 28 matches, eight points away from the top four with a game in hand against Manchester City. They are looking forward to entering the top-four to partake in next year’s Champions League yet the chances are slim following Manchester United, Wolves, Sheffield United, and Spurs all challenging towards it.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Arsenal is determined to keep 30-year old as they bid to get back into the Champions League after a three-year absence although the chances look unpromising at a stage where manager, Mikel Arteta is assembling and assessing his squad for next season.

The Gabonese has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester United where Champions League football is guaranteed to enhance his career and as he enters into the final year of his contract, it looks unlikely that an extension would be made.

Aubameyang is the Premier League second top scorer this season with 17 goals having shared the golden boot last season with Liverpool’s duo and fellow Africans, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Arsenal will take on Manchester City on June 17 before playing Brighton on Saturday, June 20, 2020.
