Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Days Saint donates sewing equipment to the Kanda Technical Institute

The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Days Saint has made a donation of sewing equipment to the Kanda Technical Institute.

The equipment is to equip the institute with the needed materials for the smooth teaching and learning of the course.

The donation, which came off on Tuesday, 27 June 2023, was presented on behalf of the church by Elder Elder Jorg Klebingat who is the head of the mission in Ghana.

Materials donated includes 10 Industrial sewing machine, 2Embroideryy machine, 10 Hand sewing, 1 Overlocking machine, 1 Buttonhole machine, 1 Knitting machine, 4 Industrial pressing iron, 4 Dummy size 8 and 4 Dummy size 10, amounting to GHS 73,000.00.

Receiving the materials, the Principal of the Kanda Technical Institute, Madam Emily Sam expressed her outfit's heartfelt appreciation for the gesture.

Formerly called Career Training Institute was established by the 31st December Women's Movement in the year 2000 with the aim of provision of employable skills for the youth in and around the catchment area of Kanda and Nima with Technical Vocational Education and Training(TVET) skills thereby making them industrious.

Among the courses provided include General Cooking, Pastries, Salad, Cake Decoratio,n and Waiting Services with Fashion Design Technology-Pattern Drafting, Fascinations, Bread Makin,g and Decoration.

The Institute, she revealed has over the years trained more than thousands of trainees in Fashion Design Technology and Hospitality and Catering Management which individuals have become entrepreneurs and provide employment avenues for many.

Despite the strides, the Principle revealed that the institutes lacked state-of-art equipment to enhance efficiency in the training of trainees.

Given that, the institute is pleased for the timely support offered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day upon the request to furnish the Fashion Design Technology department with equipment
