Assembly members at Atimatim ‘Chairman,’ a suburb in Kumasi together with Kookoano and Bronkong Electoral Area in the Afigya Kwabre-South District have held a press conference in contradiction to the reappointment of their District Chief Executive (DCE), Honourable Christian Adu Poku.

According to them, their DCE does not fit the characteristic bill required by residents hence their disapproval of reappointment should the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo decide to give him another chance.

“Chief Executives are always appointed by the president and they must be confirmed by at least two-thirds majority of assembly members. The major function of the chief executive is to supervise all developmental activities of their respective assemblies," they revealed.

“Unfortunately, Afigya-Kwabre-South District Assembly lacked the competent leadership to promote the developmental agenda of the president for the communities within the entire district for the past three to four years during the tenure of Mr Christian Adu (aka APC) as DCE,” the statement added.

In a five-page document released during a press conference held on Monday, July 3, 2021, on behalf of all the communities, Rev. Clement Gaizy of Christ Our Pass Over Ministry charged the current DCE of lacking integrity, dependent on the common fund instead of thinking outside the box to increase revenue collection, appaling attitude towards residents and has disputes with assembly members following accusation of allegedly misappropriating quarry funds.

They have therefore called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to think through his reappointment and consider someone creative, trustworthy, cooperative with Assembly members and a person who will enhance the developmental agenda of the district with the right attitude.
