The Chief and the people of Denkyira Breman in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central region on Sunday purified their land by pouring libations and slaughtering sheep.
The act is to pacify the gods following the collapse of a mining pit leading to the death of three illegal miners.
In an interview with SoireeNews, the Chief linguist for Denkyira Traditional Council, Odeefour Kyeame, Kyeame Henapong revealed that it is the mandate of Nananom to pour libations and slaughter sheep whenever a person meets his or her untimely death with the notion to rest the soul of the deceased.
He further explained that the Chiefs will form a voluntary task force to monitor the mining site.
The linguist finally urged Ghanaians especially those in Denkyira to adhere to the laws of the land.
The Assemblymember for Denkyira Bremam electoral area, Honourable Francis Agyapong told Soireenews that he has paid a visit to the families of the deceased to sympathize with them.
He updated that a task force has been formed to monitor activities of the mining site.
Meanwhile, the Asafoakye of Denkyira Breman Nana Kwaku Amponsah advised the youth to stop illegal mining in the area.
