Chairman Wontumi is freed by Otumfour, who maintains that he did nothing wrong

Chairman Wontumi and his traditional chiefs were called by Otumfour Osei Tutu, the Asantehene, to the Manhyia Palace.

Chairman Wontumi was seen mingling with the traditional leaders at the Manhyia Palace in a widely shared video.

Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, NPP National Chairman Stephen Ntim, and NPP General Secretary Justin Kondua Frimpong accompanied Wontumi.

As per the reports, Chairman Wontumi was freed since the traditional leaders declared he had done nothing wrong.

Oyerepa TV claims that Kokosohene, Chairman Wontumi's accuser, was held accountable for disclosing political matters in the palace.

The ancient chiefs consequently counseled him to refrain from the evil-bedevilling conduct.

During the most recent NPP Ashanti Regional Parliamentary Vetting, there was a conflict between Chairman Wontumi and an organizer for the Manhyia South Constituency.

About forty people saw the misunderstanding, including Otumfuo's Brempon Nana Kwaku Duah, the Chief of Kokoso, who was also present in the building in her capacity as the Chair of the party's Council of Elders for the seat.

According to sources, Samanhene Nana Osei Kwaku received a report on the matter from Nana Kwaku Duah. Osei Kwaku then passed the information along to higher-ups at the Palace, who issued Otumfuo's decree.

According to independent investigations, Wontumi was approached by a Manhyia South Constituency officer aligned with the Napo for refusing to testify about the substantial contribution made by Manhyia South MP Matthew Opoku Prempeh to the NPP's internal operations in the area. This is when the miscommunication occurred.

During the intense argument that went on for more than thirty minutes inside the vetting room, Wontumi is reported to have yelled in a mix of Twi and English, saying, "I have built my kingdom, I have my police and military, and I will speak my mind to Otumfuo if I disagree on an issue with him (Otumfuo)"; this claim has been verified by Nana Kwaku Dua, who was present.
