The Chief Executive Officer for Justice for All, Mr. Jonathan Osei Owusu is calling on the government to


 grant Pardon under Article 72 by reviewing the amnesty criteria and proposing the inclusion of among others, Convicted Non-Violent Drug Users (not trade/traffickers) who are serving below 10 years per the old PNDC Law 236 and petty offenders to assist in decongesting the Prisons during these trying times where inmates are overcrowding in various prisons in the country. 

This said they are willing to support the State for non-violent Convicted Drug Users who may need treatment to go through a period of rehabilitation and treatment within the pardon process period which is also by the new Narcotics Control Commission Law 2020 and international best practices as they pose no major threat to society but themselves. 

Mr. Jonathan Osei Owusu made the call when Justice for All donated food items to Tarkwa prisons in the Western Region.

The CEO pleaded with the government to pardon drug offenders said, the criteria used in granting Amnesty do not include drug offenders as the drug users pose no major threat to society but themselves. 

Mr. Jonathan Osei Owusu is therefore calling on the President to activate article 72 and show mercy to petty offenders and nonviolent drug users.

Second in command at the Tarkwa Prisons who received the items on behalf of the prisoners revealed, talk about the 1.80p daily chop money for a prisoner does not permit them to serve them with proper food and also revealed the prison is overpopulated and is a challenge facing the prison.
