Bono GES receives 3 Buses, pick- up from government

The Bono regional minister Justina Owusu Banahene has expressed gratitude to the Government for donating through the Education Ministry 3 busses and a pick vehicle to aid teaching and learning in the region.

The three busses were donated to Chiraa Senior High School, Sacred High Senior High at  Nsoatre, and Mansen Senior High School at Wamfie.
Speaking in an interview with Soireenews during the donation, the Bono regional Minister Madam Justina Owusu Banahene said as a former teacher, she was aware of the challenges School authorities go through during educational trips as part of the curriculum activities.
She was hopeful the buses will serve a good purpose and appreciated the government for such timely interventions for the Schools.
She however charged the School authorities to use the buses properly and not to serve as a public bus serving the community beyond the limit, and charged the drivers to always take the safety precautionary measures as they use the cars.
Receiving the cars for the regional education directorate, the Bono regional Education director Madam Ivy Owusu Asantewaa said she was very pleased with the move, therefore, called for more support for the region's educational infrastructure.
The headmaster for the Chiraa Senior High School Mr. Francis Antwi Bediako who received the cars on behalf of the School said the Chiraa Senior High School had their first Bus in 2008 which is in a very bad state adding the new one will help much.
The buses were part of the 100 buses the vice president, Dr. Alhaji Bawumia on behalf of the government presented to GES to be presented to some schools in 9 regions of the country for which the Bono Region is part.
The Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, yesterday handed over hundred 23-seater Hyundai buses to Senior High Schools in the northern sector of the country.
The presentation forms the first batch of 350 buses procured for Senior High Schools (SHS) in the country and distributed to schools drawn from North Eastern, Northern, Savannah, Upper East, Upper West, Oti, Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions.
Presenting the buses to the schools, Dr. Bawumia said the procurement and distribution of the buses to the schools formed part of a comprehensive program to improve access and quality of education in the country.
He said the significant educational reforms the government had rolled out since 2017 would come to nothing unless frontline managers of education in the country were provided with the necessary logistical support for the schools to run effectively.
“Our schools have various challenges in the discharge of their administrative functions, and these vehicles, I am sure,  will go a long way to help smoothen these,” he declared.
He explained that the 100 buses were the first batch of 350 buses that had been procured by the government to support senior high schools.
” It will be recalled that in March 2016, at a ceremony presided over by the Vice President, the government donated 365 Isuzu Double Cabin pickup trucks out of a total of 840 procured, which were distributed to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directorates of Education, as well as selected agencies under the Ministry of Education,” he emphasized.
