BF, SMM of IHRC, DACF, and the BOF hold the Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness Walk

As part of measures to create awareness about the negative effects of child abuse and neglect coupled with finding lasting solutions to the long-standing menace, the Bonabear Foundation Ghana(BFG) under the auspices of the Special Monitoring Mission(SMM)-Ghana in collaboration with Dreams Africa Care Foundation(DACF) and the Breasted One Foundation(BOF) has held an awareness creation campaign within the Teshie enclave.

The campaign which came off last Saturday, April 23, 2022, was meant to make a strong statement against the dehumanizing practice of child abuse and child neglect across the country with a particular focus on the Teshie enclave.
Being the fifth in the series, the sensitization walk drew youth, men, and women from Teshie and its environs to achieve the intended purpose.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the sidelines of the sensitization campaign, Volunteers of Dream Africa Care Foundation, Ms. Imogen Blyth, and Blanka Bran jointly expressed disappointment at the levels of child abuse and neglect in the country and called for urgent measures to mitigate the anomaly in Ghanaian society.


According to the Volunteers, raising awareness is the best way to mitigate such a societal menace, and the negative effects it imposes on the individual and the nation at large.
The DACF volunteers maintained that an exercise intend to correct an anomaly in society, ought to be done consistently hence their intention to repeat the campaign at regular times.
Potentially, the Volunteers indicated that they will need an insider to build an orphanage home here when the need arises.
This, they said would provide the orphans get a decent home to develop their  God-given abilities.
Building an orphanage home here in Ghana would aim to get closer interaction with the children.
On his part, the Founder and Leader of the Bonabear Foundation, Ambassador Bernard  Bonaparte admonished parents to desist from the practice of neglecting their children as that kills talents.
"Marriage may breakdown, but the care of the children should not breakdown", he admonished.
With the upkeep of children, the development of the children lies on the parents.
This month of April has been set aside by the United Nations to commemorate and create awareness about the dangers of abuse and neglect of children and therefore urged parents to desist from the act.
They walked through the principal street of Teshie within the Krowor Municipality of the Greater Accra Region displaying placards with inscriptions that include: Your Child Our Heritage, Child  Love Great Joy, Child Care is a blessing to you, Care for Child Care for your future, Why to involve the child? they are innocent, Neglect your child to your detriment, amongst drawing the attention of onlookers.
