Beposo Youth Angrily Construct Speed Ramps over Vehicular Knockdowns

 The youth of Beposo, a community in Shama District of the Western Region have angrily constructed speed ramps on the road to stop reckless drivers from speeding.

The residents said a lot of people in the community have lost their lives via vehicular knockdowns.

The youth who spoke with SN24 said, several complaints have been made to the High Way Authority, Regional Minister, and other agencies but no solution has been provided hence the construction of the speed ramps.

Mr. Eric Adani, assemblymember of Beposo also admitted that vehicles have knocked down many people in the community on countless occasions leaving some of them amputated. These knockdowns he said mostly happen during market days.

He asserted that a tollbooth that has been erected in the middle of the road is also a major cause of road accidents in the Beposo community.

He said so many assurances were given by authorities after several petitions were submitted to Shama District Assembly for a solution. However, the situation remains the same.

“As I am speaking with you now the leftover tollbooth structure in the middle of the road is also causing a lot of accidents. Many letters have been written to seek redress with regard to this issue but no solution has been provided.”

Consequently, the assembly member has appealed to authorities for assistance in order to curb the loss of many lives in the Beposo community.
