Residents of Buni, a suburb of Jaman North District of the Bono Region have embarked on a communal labour to facelift the deplorable roads in the community which has been posing as threat to commuters.

Jaman North district of the Bono region among other districts in the region which has been identified as the hub of having deplorable roads in the region.

In the early hours of Wednesday, May 26, 2021, some residents of Buni in the Jaman North District embarked on communal labour on the Goka-Buni stretch to help curb the recent happening of accidents on the route.

According to the residents, the poor nature of the road gingered both old and young men in the community to tackle the dangerous part of the road, which is the mountain area, near Goka popularly known as 'Maame Sarah mountain'.

According to them, cars loaded with food stuffs and cashew to other parts of the district or region, finds it difficult to climb the mountain, a situation they noted has been affecting their farming activities.

However, they stressed that a lot of people have been losing their lives especially pregnant women.

The residents labelled their predicament of bad roads network in the area as disturbing and alarming since, the stretch from Goka-Buni] has become a major link to all communities in the district, such as; Asuokor, Asiri, Jankufa, Seketia Kokoa, Sampa the district capital and the neighbouring districts such as Seikwa in the Tain district and Drobo in the Jaman south districts of the Bono region.

Meanwhile, the road which is believed to be constructed in the early 70s has since not received any attention let alone renovation.

In an interaction with the residents who took part in the exercise, several attempts made to highway authorities, political leaders as well as other stakeholders in the district to help them construct a new road has proven futile hence their decision.

The District chief executive of the district Honourable Ankomah Adane has promised to contract the road yet nothing seems to be have been done about the situation.

Thus, they are appealing to political leaders in the district, the Assembly and the president of Ghana to come to their aid to solve their road menace in the area.
