Ashanti Region: Pramso Chief instructs exhumation of corpses, Over 250 corpses exhumed so far.

The chief of Pramso in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti region Nana Gyanpon-Tua II has ordered the exhumation of some remains buried at the community's cemetery.

The new given location for burial which is instructed by the chief is a riverside located at prams in the Ashanti Region.

According to the report, the chief has sold the old cemetery to a private developer for personal use.

In an engagement with the Assembly Member of the area Honourable. Owusu sekyere disclosed that over two hundred and fifty corpses have been exhumed so far since last month.

According to him, the chief based on his interest has allegedly sold the cemetery land to a private developer for two million cedis.

Meanwhile, Residents in the community say they sense something fishy regarding the intention of selling a cemetery land to a private developer.

According to them, they believed Manhyia would only permit the Chief to clear a portion of the cemetery for road construction being undertaken by Kofi Job construction but not to clear the entire cemetery for personal use.

They have threatened to resist any attempt to continue the exhumation of buried bodies as instructed by the Chief because it's against the customs and traditions of the area.

The exercise which was carried out without strict monitoring and supervision from health experts is likely to spark health implications within the community.

The Bosomtwe district assembly is yet to respond to the issue at the time of filing this report.
