Ashaiman circuit court remands factoryhand, 26 for unlawful possession and trafficking of drugs

The Ashaiman Circuit Court has remanded a-26 year old factoryhand into police custody for the possession of a substance suspected to be narcotic drug.

Frank Adjei, being charged on the count of unlawful possession of narcotic drugs for trafficking: contrary to section 37 of the Narcotic Control Commission Act 2020(Act 1019) was detained in police custody to enable the police complete their investigations.

Prosecution: Chief Inspector C. O. Norgbedzi presenting the Number 49965 CPL. Frank Attah Bempong I/C case told the court that the accused, Frank Adjei, aged 26, is a factoryhand and resides at Kpone B5 area.

On 5th October, 2023 at 11:40am,the accused was arrested in Kpone for his involvement in a case of dishonestly receiving being investigated by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

He told the court that a search conducted in his room disclosed quantity of narcotic drugs namely; one and a half compressed slabs of plant material, seventeen (17) plain sachets containing plant material, eighty-six(86) pieces of blown paper wraps of plant material, a black polythene bag containing plant seeds, ninety-two(92) toffees lased with plant material, some quantities of plant material in a white polythene bag and one black polythene bag containing plant material.

Chief Inspector C/O Norgbedze further told the court that the exhibits were yet to be forwarded to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory in Accra for examination and report.

The case is still under investigations,he concluded.
