The Asanteman Nkosuo Fun club of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have refuted claims that the Vice President of Ghana, Dr, Muhammadu Bawumia turned down their official visit to address concerns bothering the political party as made to believe through media fabrications.

According to the group, although they were denied entry due to the coronavirus pandemic yet the Vice President tasked his director of operations to usher five of their members into the Jubilee house for a successful meeting for the growth and welfare of the New Political Party.

The group which connotes an amalgamation of about 300 NPP identifiable group chairpersons, who feel ignored and neglected by leaders of the party revealed at a press conference at the Center for National Culture, Kumasi on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, led by the chairperson, Dr Mohamed Issah Ababio that the trip to Dr Bawumia’s home was organized to seek assistance for the grass-root party supporters who put in much efforts during the 2020 polls but have gained nothing.

“We did because they have always claimed and maintained that there wasn't or there haven't been any benefits whatsoever, be in cash or in-kind for the tireless work, we the grassroots did for the party,” they said.

“We used our own funds as a mega as it were to print t-shirts for our members. We footed the T&T of the members who went out campaigning, amongst others.

We have videos and picture footages to buttress our points.

“We went to the vice president house, but the military and the operatives prevented us, citing the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse not to allow us.

“There was frustration and disappointment written in our faces because of the behaviour of some of the operatives. In order to avoid confrontation, the security secured some convoy and used a detour to move us out.

“Meanwhile, the Vice President has tasked his director of operations. One Alhaji Somaila to usher five of our members into the Jubilee house.”

They explained that footages circulating on social media communicating they were kicked out are deceptive for the reason that “a journalist from nowhere recorded the scene and made it viral without our consent or our prior approval” after five selected members were en route to the Vice President’s office without the knowledge of the rest of the disappointed members.”

The Asanteman Nkosuo Kuo cautioned that party leaders must start listening to the grassroots and attend to their needs if “we want to remain in power, long enough to fix Ghana's economy.”
