Anti-gay bill: Uganda's Museveni to meet MPs
The planned legislation has drawn widespread criticism, and the US has threatened Uganda with sanctions if it becomes law.
President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda is scheduled to meet with National Resistance Movement (NRM) lawmakers on Thursday to go over the contentious anti-homosexuality measure that was approved by parliament last month.
According to a statement from Denis Obua, the chairperson of the NRM parliamentary caucus, the gathering would take place at State House in Entebbe.
According to the government-run New Vision website, all MPs must take the Covid-19 exam before to the meeting.
According to local media, Mr. Museveni is expected to sign the bill into law, which will subject anyone who commits homosexual acts to a 20-year prison sentence and the death penalty for those found guilty of aggravated homosexuality.
