Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold (CACM) have urged all members to register massively in their numbers to obtain the new Voter Identification cards in order to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for failure to retrieve their locked-up investments at Menzgold and other financial institutions.

They encouraged all members to comply with the coronavirus protocols at registration centers assuring that failure to vote in the upcoming elections will not enable customers determine who is fit to administer the affairs of the country in the future.

Speaking at A press organized on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, in the Ashanti Region, Kumasi at the Center for National Culture, the Public Relations Officer of CACM, Mr. Baffour Amankwah lamented that, government should pay customers of Menzgold from the consolidated fund before the end of October 2020 and also sell all assets of NAM 1 in order to return the proceeds to state coffers.

He explained that investors earlier called for a suspension of NAM1's criminal trial because securing their monies from Menzgold is their sole priority- after that, the State could go ahead with the criminal trial.

“From the lackadaisical attitude of the government in prosecuting NAM1 and also its Lukewarmness in helping customers in retrieving their locked up investment, customer painfully come to the firm conclusion that the government is an accomplice in the current suffering of Menzgold customers leading to the death of over 56 people,” he accused.

Reasons were cited that numerous companies under the wings of Nana Appiah Mensah are still in operation, a testament that the current government is pampering and supporting NAM1. They stated emphatically that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his administration have a hand in the company and must take appropriate action to resolve their challenges before the government regrets the latter part.

“The events of Payboy Company owned by NAM1 which was found by EOCO as another scam just a couple of months ago is still fresh on our minds. Currently, there is another company Metallica situated on the same premises of Menzgold in East Legon Accra believed to be associated with NAM1. Ivex minerals and Gold FM are all new outlets that government has allowed NAM1 to open and operating,” he added.

CACM therefore demanded that government “pay us from the consolidated fund before the end of October 2020” or add, “add the payment of our money in the 2020 midyear budget for payment before October.”

They also suggested that NAM1’s property must be confiscated and sold in order to return the proceeds to the state coffers else the coalition would vote against the sitting president and end his reign for the lack of support.
