The Carabao Cup finals is set to be played in front of 8,000 fans at Wembley, talkSPORTS reports.

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspurs will clash in May to decide who wins the ultimate prize of the league cup. The decision means fans will also witness Manchester City lift the Premier League trophy against Everton at the Etihad on May 23, 2021, as confirmed by the government on February 22, 2021.

The final of the tournament was scheduled to take place in February but the EFL pushed it back in the hope of fans being able to attend and will have to go through the Rapid Lateral Flow coronavirus tests upon entry and departure.

Although some possibilities are reportedly been discussed yet if permission is granted, match tickets will be split between Manchester City and Spurs fans, local residents and front-line NHS workers.

Rick Parry told the good news of fans been welcome back into match venues is not just to test the waters but an important event throughout the season for the reason that none was aware that fans will be left out of games for almost a wholes season, as compared to last time.

“Clearly we are hopeful. We didn’t enter into this season thinking we were going to be without fans,” Rick Parry said.

“Of course, the Carabao Cup isn’t a dress rehearsal for us, it’s the pinnacle of the season and a really important event.”

The UK government had already announced that up to 10,000 people could be allowed in stadiums for sporting events if the pilots are successful, but not before May 17.
