476 mental patients roam the streets of Bono - Regional Health Director

The leading causes of mental conditions in the Bono Region are Schizophrenia and Epilepsy, Regional Health Director, Dr. Kofi Amoa-Kodieh has stated.
The region has been able to count all its mentally ill vagrants which stands at 476, the Medical Director at the 2021 Annual Performance Review held revealed to health stakeholders.
According to Dr. Kofi Amoa-Kodieh, for a long time, the Bono Region has had a place in taking a keen interest in the mental health situation in the region.
The Regional Health Directorate has therefore written to the Regional Coordinating Council to support the treatment and reintegration of the vagrants.
Dr. Amo-Kodie noted that research and data have shown that when taken for treatment, about 90% of them can be cured and returned to their families.
He has therefore urged stakeholders to a keen interest in mental health issues in the country.
Dr. Amo-Kodie commended all health workers in the region for the courage with which they fought the covid-19 pandemic and protected lives.
