Information reaching Soiree News indicates that three Illegal Miners were trapped Dead In a Mining Pit at Akyem Apinamang.

The Three unlawful miners were cornered in a mining pit at Akyem Apinamang a farming and mining community in Denkyembuor District in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Assemblymember for Akyem Apinamang, John Boakye on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, reported at a police station around 12.00pm, that he had information about a collapsed gold mining pit on some felonious miners near old Apinamang cemetery.

"The Police preceded to the scene and found three bodies covered with leaves".

The deceased names were given as Akosua Asantewaa age 41, Yaw Ntiamoah aged 35, and Yaw Bismark aged 25.

"Information gathered by the local police indicated that they were in the pit mining for gold and suddenly it collapsed on them".

Adding that the bodies were removed and deposited at St Dominic’s Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command has confirmed the incident and urged residents to remain calm whilst investigations are underway.
