200 recruits National Fire Academy (NAFA) men and women graduates have successfully passed out to support the execution of the service’s mission of providing efficient and valued fire and rescue services to the citizenry.

Following this development, the graduating students have openly displayed the things they have learned in the past month at Maranatha University College at Sowutuom in Accra.

The passing out ceremony included inspection of the parade by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Anyaa Sowutuom Constituncy, Honourable Dr Dickson Adomako Kissi, trooping of the band, march past in slow and quick time by fire academy men and women parade.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Kissi expressed his excitement at the successful training for the 200 Anyaa Sowutuom youth who were enrolled through his initiative.

He stated that the reason for the NAFA establishment was fire outbreaks were higher in the past years.

He thought something has to be done to reduce it and in consultation with the fire service and partnership with Nationwide fire academy, the initiative of the fire academy emerge.

For her part, the Director of Operations of Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mrs Afya Gyakyewaa, who graced the occasion promised NAFA's priority access for possible employment for the public sector with their skills.

According to her, they started with Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency where 200 graduates have passed out after undergoing one (1) month of intensive tuition, practical attachment and training in vital areas of fire prevention and management at the Fire Academy and Training in Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency.

She explained the Fire academy personal would play an important role in ensuring that properties and human lives are protected and save early to achieve desired results. 

Awards were presented to deserving recruits, with a Woman, Miss Lucy Ansah receiving the Overall Best Award.
