Ghanaians have expressed their sentiments following the Electoral Commission’s release of positions on the ballot paper for the 12 presidential aspirants.

The general elections of the country will come off in less than two months and every preparedness is being put forward by the EC to help political parties educate their followers on the dos and don'ts during voting.

11 candidates registered on the ballot paper are sponsored by political parties whiles one is an independent candidate.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo of the New Patriotic Party occupies the first position trailed by John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress. The Ghana Union Movement, Convention People’s Party, Ghana Freedom and the rest follow in that sequential order.

According to a section of Ghanaians, the Electoral Commission chaired by Mrs Jean Mensa has been mandated to manage the conduct of all public elections and Referenda and also to handle all matters directly related to the conduct of elections in the country, therefore, its decisions must be valued since the commission has the full backing of the constitution.

“We have delegated everything regarding elections to the Electoral Commission and they know best. We just have to support Mrs Jean Mensa with prayer and the country for a peaceful poll on December 7.

“We must vote someone who has the welfare of Ghanaians at heart and has a vision that will transform and move Ghana forward," Maame Boa told.

Speaking to Soireenews on Tuesday, Nana Ama Owusu Kyeremateng, a trader at Kejetia Central Market disclosed that the number of presidential candidates cannot distract constituents interest since because they have full knowledge of their favourite aspirant. She advised that peace is indispensable in such a world therefore Ghanaians must defend the heritage of concord and pray towards it.

“We are not bothered as to whether the Presidential candidates are ten or twenty. Even if they were all approved to contest, there is nothing wrong because there is one ideal candidate we are fond of and as far as we know him, we are good to vote when the time is right.

“Every election time is about prayers and not protests. We are pleading to our youth to stay calm in this elections. Whatever decision we are making on December 7 is for their future benefit. They are our hope and must think that they will one day take a position which cannot accept any bad record of them.”

Mr Ben Asare, a trader also cautioned politicians to quit engaging Ghanaian youth in their unfriendly acts directed at each other for power sake. He opened that youths cannot be blamed much when they are recruited to cause mayhem although they should have known better yet for the reason of hardship, they oblige to official’s demand.

“Politicians are inciting against our youth. They have taken advantage of the unemployment nature in the system and employs the young ones to pursue violence against their neighbours. The political party leaders must be advised to put an end to involving the youth in their menace.
