Some residents and youths of Buni in the Jaman North District of the Bono region have threatened to demonstrate against Nana Kaka XI, Chief of the area over his indiscriminative selling of lands belonging to the community.

According to the youth, the chief over twelve years (12) years of his enstoolment in the area has been selling lands indiscriminately but has failed to raise a single project for the development of the area from the proceeds earned from land.

They again revealed that the chief has taken the majority of the Youths in the community for granted including his sub-chiefs which he disrespects and refuses to take any advice or opinion from them.

They alleged that lands meant for projects in the future such as building secondary Schools, training colleges, universities and health facilities have been sold to individuals without the knowledge of the unit committee members of the community.

According to the youths, chiefs are meant to play major roles in the development of a community through lobbying with government and non-governmental agencies for projects but have never seen their chief in such a move. A situation they termed as a factor that has contributed to the underdeveloped state of Buni.

Speaking to Soiree News, one of the residents of the area and member of the youth raising such concern, Mr Kenneth Kyeremeh said efforts to get the chief to address their concerns have proven futile as the chief has paid deaf ears.

He said the youth are angry and if nothing is done about their concerns, they may go overboard to take the laws into their hands to deal with the chief.

Meanwhile, when Soiree News contacted Nana Kaka XI for his reactions he said he has reported the incident to the police as such will not grant any interview to that effect.
