Ya-Naa Directs NEDCo/VRA to Restore Power to Kublemahaku

The King of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abubakar II has directed the Managing Director of NEDCo/VRA to as a matter of urgency restore power to Kublemahaku, a suburb of Tamale.

For twenty-seven (27) days now, the two electricity companies have plunged the community into total darkness over their disagreement with an individual.

The electricity company accused a resident of the area who is currently at large of power theft. Failure on their part to effect an arrest on the alleged perpetrator, they choose to punish the community instead.

In an address on behalf of the overlord, at the commissioning of the Naa Gbewaa Interchange in Tamale, Zangbalin-Lana Mahama condemned the action of the accused person but directed the electricity to restore power to the community.

"I call on the Managing Director of NEDCo/VRA to as a matter of urgency immediately restore power to the  Kublemahagu area".

According to him, the power distribution company has acted in bad faith for punishing the entire community for several weeks, instead of the individual.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, and the Cooperate Affairs Director of the Volta River Authority (VRA) have issued an authoritative statement that, power will not be restored in the Kublemahagu community until the suspect is fished out by members of the community.

A freelance journalist in Tamale, Ibrahim Nurudeen reported that some staff of the power distribution company hit the accused person with a metal, which he returned in equal measure.

This according to him brought about the brouhaha for the last three weeks. As of today Wednesday 30th March 2022, after the Ya-Naa's intervention yesterday power has not been restored in the community.
