Why Shatta Wale was left off of the 24th VGMA nomination list

The 24th iteration of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards nominees have once more been announced by Charterhouse and the VGMA organizers without Shatta Wale's name.

Recall that the VGMA barred Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy in 2019 after their altercation on stage. After the two reconciled, the ban was eventually removed.

Stonebwoy expressed interest in the award program following the deal, but Shatta Wale said on his Facebook page that he had no interest in the VGMA.

Before Shatta Wale can participate in the scheme once more, his then-manager Bulldog also requested that the VGMA officials extend an apology to him.

"After thoughtful consideration of recent events and extensive consultation, I am announcing that I will no longer participate in the Ghana Music Awards scheme moving forward. Good luck! Shatta announced his formal departure from the VGMAs in a Facebook update.

"Until the VGMA shows up to confess to him, Shatta Wale will not attend the VGMA. They have repeatedly treated Shatta with disdain. Bulldog, who was Shatta Wale's manager at the time, added, "If he chooses to join the scheme again, I will focus on farming, which will mean my journey with him will come to an end.

He added; “He has been always overlooking the disrespect to support the culture but it won’t happen again until they apologize. They kept us in jail for a day for doing nothing, it’s sad and disrespectful,”.
