Where are battles being reported this morning?

We are making a lot of effort to understand where and what is happening better

Where are battles being reported this morning?

Heavy battle between the Sudanese army forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF) has gone on for a third day, leaving the situation on the ground in Sudan incredibly unclear.

The previous several hours have seen extensive coverage of air strikes, intense shooting, and artillery explosions in local media, on social media, and in interviews local residents have made to the BBC.

Here is a quick rundown of some of the major geographies where this morning's reports of violence have been made:

Around the Republican Palace in the capital Khartoum

At the Sudanese army command building in the same city

At or near al-Shaab hospital in Khartoum

Smoke has been filmed rising from the runway of the city's international airport

RSF fighters claim to have taken control of Merowe airport, around 200 miles (320 km) to the north of the capital - but the BBC has been unable to verify this.
