Wenchi MCE Hands Over Separate Classroom Blocks To GES

The Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi, Hon. Alexander Obour Damoah has handed over separate classroom blocks to Awisa M/A King Dargatin (KG) school and a 6- unit classroom block at Nana Dukuuh R/C basic schools

The 6 unit classroom block at Dwomour Nterma Electoral Area at Nchiraa comprises of office and store, Computer laboratory, including 4 seater kV IP toilet facility for both male and female students, while the Awisa M/A KG block comprises of 2 - unit classroom block, office, and store, dining, water, urinal, and a toilet facility.

Funds for the construction of Awisa M-A KG came from Valco Trust Fund through the Ministry of Energy, while that of Nana Dukuuh classroom blocks came from the GETFUND.

Speaking to a section of media practitioners, the MCE said, the project was efforts by  His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to eliminate all schools under trees and deplorable basic schools in Ghana.

He charged teachers, and students from both schools to cultivate maintenance culture to maintain the facilities to long last to serve as its intended purpose.

On her part the Wenchi Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service, Mrs. Mary Nyarko Adutwum said teaching and learning in both schools took place under trees and dilapidated classroom structures.

According to her the situation for the past years greatly affected teaching and learning as both teachers and pupils were always at the mercy of the weather.

However, the predicament teachers and pupils in these schools go through is now a thing of the past she noted.

She appealed to the government through the Wenchi Municipal Assembly to provide them with furniture and other teaching and learning materials to promote quality education in the municipality.
